18 Useful Infographics To Upgrade Your Interview Skills

Picture

By Shea Ki

What topics do your friends come to you for advice about? It's probably no wonder that mine look to me for stress relief and guidance when they are making career decisions. I'm grateful they also see me as someone to turn to when they want to do their best at an interview or other high pressure professional situation.

It's also no secret to those that know me that I can be a bit of a research geek on topics I am passionate about. I want to do cartwheels when I land on visuals that share a clear point in a unique way. Recently, I wrote a popular blog series about the three key elements of the Upgrade My Interview™ method. To save you more time and stress, I rounded up some links to the best infographics I've seen to help boost your mindset, body language, and energy on your big day.

Enjoy my infographic binge below and bookmark what you think will be most useful for you.

Mindset Tools

Without the right mindset, any preparation you do for a job interview will be a waste of your time. A positive mindset is easier to sustain under high pressure when you have taken good care of yourself. I've spent years coaching others on impressing employers and I find this is still the number one missed step.

Healthy eating, restful sleep, and preparing your unique stories of success are essential to making your best first impression. Giving yourself time to check in with your thoughts before and after the interview will go a long way in getting your mindset back on track when it slips. Most of all, finding natural ways to boost your spirit back up after a setback is key to attracting more success in the world of work.

Body Language Tips

You might be saying all the right words at your interview, but your body language and social media may be giving another message. I often find that those I coach are not aware how big a role our nonverbal signals (posture, eye contact, handshake, gestures, color of clothes, scent, etc.) and pictures posted online (Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, LinkedIN, etc.) play in the impression we give others.

Look at yourself from an employer or CEO start-up's point of view:
  • Are you taking time to make sure your outfit, grooming, and scent are not rushed?
  • Have you recorded how you talk about yourself to see what nervous habits you have? (I used to look down at the table too much instead of at the faces talking to me).
  • What opinions might someone who is thinking of hiring you start to consider when they google your name or see your social media? Have you done what you can to protect the privacy of what is "out there" about you within the last six months?

Energy Boosters

Knowing how to pace, protect, and perk up your energy when under stress is a game changer.  As a certified Reiki practitioner, showing others different ways to get more aligned with their best energy is absolutely one of my favorite topics.

Energy work has the power to boost your ability to engage with others in a memorable, authentic way.

Thanks to more recent research on the benefits of Reiki, EFT (tapping), Yoga, Qigong, accupressure, and other methods, many types of energy work are being used in hospitals, Fortune 500 companies, and other businesses to relieve stress.  There are lots of ways to explore what will work best for you to connect to your highest energy.

Thanks for this list! I had not thought of using acupressure to help with butterflies before talking about myself at an interview.
