By Shea KiHave you ever read something at just the right time? It sparks your spirit back up or soothes a part of you that you didn't know needed it. This happens to me a lot and I love it. It recently occurred in an unexpected moment. I already knew from incredible episodes of The Purpose Filter podcast that Dr. Kathy Zhang is an angel on Earth and someone I would enjoy talking to. Her career journey so far includes being a physician for those in hospice and palliative care, a life coach, and a masterfully trained and certified hypnotist. But I will never forget what else I discovered about her when preparing to have her on as a guest on Career Momentum Chats. I had no idea she had written a soul-stirring article while healing from the countless tragedies she witnessed at work in New York City during the COVID-19 pandemic. The title, "Maybe We're Not All Hanging In There And That's Okay", grabbed my attention instantly. There I was, reading it two years later from its publication, yet Kathy's words still capture so much of what is going on now for many in 2023. Thankfully, COVID-19 is no longer such a life threat to the masses. But the after-effects are still sending existential shockwaves through high-achieving, busy professionals, including myself and those I coach. Getting clarity on our soul-purpose and expanding our meaningful impact in the world of work without burning-out have become top priorities. However, taking a long, thoughtful look at our career journey and getting intentional about where it is going is a messy, anxiety-provoking endeavor. It takes challenging inner work that often includes a lot of honest self-reflection, changing years of societal conditioning, and taking some new risks. Fumbling through newly exposed layers of personal and professional growth is also very uncomfortable. It's common to convince ourselves and others around us that we are "hanging in there" when on some days, it's far from how we feel. The permission to be okay with not being okay, which Kathy offers others no matter what role she is showing up to work in, is much needed salve to the soul. I'm excited for you to watch and benefit from this episode of Career Momentum Chats. You might find yourself nodding your head along as you listen to everything Dr. Kathy Zhang so generously shares about herself, including how she navigated into a soul-aligned work situation. Watch This Episode: Kathy is one of my favorite examples I've met so far of someone who is in leading with her soul-purpose at work, while also protecting her sensitive, healing energy along the way. ► Pass a link to this episode along to someone whose future at work you care about. It may be the spark they need to not give up on aligning with work that lights them up. ☯️ Keep growing and glowing,
