by Shea KiWhen I reflect on this year, there are no right words. In December, I usually try to round-up for you many of the highlights we experienced together here at Upgrade My Interview™ and share other amazing, soul-centered career resources. But 2021 has been so different. Truly unlike any other year any of us has ever experienced. Before I even attempted to reflect on all that this year has taught me, I looked to my favorite teachers, my kids, for what was mattering most to them at this time. I found evidence beyond my wildest dreams that in fact some really good things have happened during what was also a painful, scary, intensely disturbing year. Some of that evidence I discovered in the letter my young daughter wrote to Santa. I knew all the losses she experienced and changes to her every day had deeply affected her, but now I also see it also expanded her heart. Her letter to the North Pole is in super tiny print, so I will share it here: "Dear Santa, Hello! This year I am thankful for my family all being healthy and well even though it is not the best reason. I do like having extra time to play with family (most of the time). For Christmas this year, I would not like a object. I would like a gift. The gift of everybody having a moment of joy. It could be for even one second, but I don't care. I know the pandemic has affected everyone, some more than others, but I would love for a second of happynis around the globe. Thank you for everything you do. Stay safe! -Autumn K. P.S. Say hi to Mrs. Claus for me!!! I like to believe that even if it was just for one second, at some point this year we each experienced a moment of "happynis". If you are looking for more of the usual "round-up" I do in December of holistic resources to help you upgrade your interview and bring better energy to your career journey, I will include some in the upcoming UMI Power Boost. As we go into 2021, each month I will also be providing a reading from one of my many oracle decks in the monthly Upgrade My Interview Power Boost I send out. This card is what those who join the UMI Tribe will be hearing about this month: I love what the rest of the book that came with my deck of Angel Energy cards says about inspiration: "The best place to seek this energy is in nature. If you feel the need to kindle your imagination, find a garden or other peaceful place, sit down and relax. Breathe deeply and let go of any tension. Focus on the plants. flowers and animals that surround you. You will be amazed at the richness of your perceptions..." -Christine Astell, How To Tap Into The Amazing Power of Angels And if a garden or outdoor place is not suitable right now for you (it is super cold in the Washington DC area where I am), you can visualize a lovely place you have visited in your mind and it will also work well. I often encourage my clients I coach to include a daily nature walk in their interview prep. Instead of thinking it is a break and that we don't have time for it, it actually is one of the best things we can do for ourselves when experiencing interview stress. If you would like to receive holistic interview tips like this every month, be sure to subscribe to join the UMI Tribe and you will receive my free Upgrade My Interview Power Boosts.
