"Help, I have an interview tomorrow!"
Oops, you did it again! (cue the Britney dance moves!)
You promised yourself you wouldn't wait until the last minute to prepare for your next interview, but life happened. Now here you are with maybe one day or LESS to get prepared.
My phone gets texts at interesting hours sometimes with messages like this:
"Shea, can you coach me NOW? or tonight? or tomorrow before the interview?"
As much I want to be of service for one-to-one coaching in emergency situations, it is not something I can sustain while keeping my own health, family, and joy for what I do thriving.
But I still want to help you, which leads us to this question:
If one-to-one coaching with me isn't an option right now, are there other Upgrade My Interview resources that will help you shine in the hot seat?
Absolutely! I understand that situations still sometimes require urgent interview skill upgrading. I've rounded up in this post a few of my videos, printables, and blog posts to help save you time so you can get an interview boost RIGHT NOW.
I also created a one-pager for you that includes links to several of these resources and more. Go ahead and save it to your phone or bookmark it now. That way you will be more ready with powerful, holistic resources whenever you or a friend needs an interview upgrade.
Considering working with me? Viewing these resources are also a great way to confirm that my approach to interview coaching meets your needs.
If you find the resources here a good fit for you, I invite you to schedule a 30 minute consult with me. That is the best way that we can see if working together one to one is your next best career step.
Mindset Mantras For More Interview Wins
We often hear that starting with a positive mindset is a powerful game-changer. Unfortunately, achieving this isn't something that most of us already know how to do.
For interviews, our mind usually perceives the challenge as a big threat and wants to protect us. It is a primitive but common cause of why we shift into "flight, fight, or fright" modes and our nervous system starts going into overdrive.
This resistance shows up first as a subtle effect, such as we feel butterflies in our stomach that disturb presenting our best self. Then it can hit like a ton of bricks with procrastination, self-sabotage, or a feeling of huge overwhelm that shows up and hold us back from preparing in the best ways for the interview. Knowing how to shift your mindset from worries, doubts, and other negativity as you prepare for an interview is essential for success.
It has delighted me to see people share this video with others who they want to see shine in the hot seat.
Body Language Boosters That Make A Difference
How you practice for your interview will be how you perform. Body language is an often skipped area of interview prep, but can be such a game changer if you are willing to spend a few minutes a day on it.
If you are not used to paying attention to your posture, eye contact, and whether or not you are fidgeting, then most likely at the interview these success blockers will show up.
Sometimes cultural differences or how we were raised may make this the hardest area to upgrade, but I know you can do it! Other challenges of upgrading body language often include trying to break years of bad habits we've done when in high pressure situations (slouching, fidgeting, shallow creating, and on and on).
This video gives you a taste of some of my favorite body language boosters to get you started. Feel free to pause the video from time to time to practice and discover which body language booster feels best to you. Then start including the one you choose in your pre-interview ritual so you can shine in the hot seat every time.
Energy Work For Presenting Your Best, Authentic Self
You hit my favorite subject! Energy work! As a certified Reiki practitioner, I have seen time and again how powerful including even just a few minutes of energy work into your interview prep can be for more success.
Maybe you are not yet familiar with the chakra system or perhaps you are a big fan of the holistic arts and spiritual practices. Either way, I invite you to make sure you won't be interrupted and try the guided meditation in this video next time you are preparing for an interview.
Sometimes a recruiter, hiring manager, or other audience can't exactly describe why a certain candidate is so memorable and ends up on their list of top choices. Maybe they aren't as qualified as other candidates or didn't have the experience they desire. But for some reason they can't resist putting that person in their pile for a second interview or other positive step forward.
Often, doing energy work that has helped that person align with their best, authentic self has been part of the picture, whether the interviewer knows it or not.
Here is a guided meditation I created that includes energy work to upgrade your interview. ENJOY!
Powerful Printables For Tapping Into Your Interview Gold
As a hiring manager, I really got tired of hearing the SAME answers to interview questions again and again. The internet can be our best friend and worst enemy when it comes to interview prep. There are so many posts and programs that say "you should say this" and "you should say that". It is no wonder that actually feeling like the interview is a meaningful conversation has gotten more rare.
Please: No more cookie cutting your answers from templates or crowd sourcing how to represent yourself.
The best gift you can give yourself before your interview is time to connect with your inner voice and practice USING it!
This is what will bring you more ease and confidence. This is what will help you stand out from the crowd. This is what will offer you clarity over confusion and mastery over feeling overwhelmed.
As I often tell my clients, YOU are YOUR secret sauce to upgrading your interview.
Not me. Yes, I am an experienced, trained guide to help you, but ultimately it will be your inner work and outer practice that attracts successful career outcomes for you.
It's time to get a taste of what my powerful printables can do to help you tap into YOUR interview gold.

Blog Posts Packed With Upgrade My Interview Tips
Although I love interview coaching, writing will always be another thrill of mine. Some people learn best by video and audio, but I find that others enjoy a good read!
Some of these posts seem to hit home for many or provide something that they needed to present themselves better. It's been fun seeing some of my posts get published in other places so a few of these links may guide you outside of this site. Leave some comments on the blog posts so I can know what is helping and what else you need.

Social Media Accounts That Make Interview Prep More Enjoyable
I use social media with intention, kindness, and purpose. Okay, some days I fall into the abyss of an Instagram gallery drooling over gorgeous boots or get stuck on Trevor Noah's Daily Show posts or Ellen's clips, laughing hysterically. But when I post content, I certainly don't want to waste your time or mine.
I invite you to connect with me more on any of the platforms below so you can gain more Upgrade My Interview tips and support. I am quite silly from time to time and you might find me lip-syncing or sharing goofy things about my personal and family life. An Upgrade My Interview principle I stick by is: Never take yourself TOO seriously!
YOU GOT THIS!
I want to see you shine (and not melt) in the hot seat when your interview time comes. Being able to present your authentic, best self is a superpower. Not many are born with it and neither was I. But thankfully, through a background as a hiring manager, a Communications major, and an employment center supervisor, I was able to develop a strong interviewing skill set. I love teaching other women how to mix this practical knowledge with a holistic approach so you can attract career momentum faster.
By learning how to infuse spiritual practices into your interview preparation, you will quickly clear out nervous energy, doubts, procrastination, and other blockers that tend to get in the way of a successful interview.
Of course, your best plan is NOT to wait until the last minute or even a few days before an interview to get ready. Practice and prepare long before you have opportunity knocking at your door.
I know you are busy, so I am often creating quick ways to make upgrading your interview as easy and accessible as possible.
I invite you to keep in the loop about how to take advantage of the free webinars, energizing 7 Day Challenges, and other learning opportunities from Upgrade My Interview by joining my mailing list here.
Your turn: What resource from this post will you use to upgrade your interview? Let me know how it goes in the comments.
Your voice and feedback are valuable here. It helps me create more tools, videos, and posts to help you shine in the hot seat.
Most of all, BElieve in YOUrself.
